Managing Medication Refills
Your medication refills are automated with your subscription, but you have full control to adjust as needed. Trimi's subscription model is designed so you never have to worry about running out of medication — your next shipment is prepared and dispatched before your current supply is finished. For full details on what your subscription covers, see our pricing, subscription, and shipping guide.
How Refills Work
Your refill is automatically processed 5-7 days before your previous supply runs out
You'll receive an email before each refill with details and tracking once shipped
Skip, pause, or request early shipment through the portal or by messaging support
Request Early Refill
Need your medication sooner? Log into the portal and navigate to "My Medications" → "Request Early Refill." Available up to 7 days early.
Skip or Pause Shipment
Going on vacation or have extra supply? Skip your next shipment or pause your subscription through "Account Settings."
Step-by-Step: Requesting a Refill Through the Portal
While most refills happen automatically, there are times you may want to manually request one — for example, if you skipped a previous shipment and need to restart, or if you'd like your next delivery sent earlier than scheduled. Here's exactly how to do it through the Trimi patient portal.
Refill Request Walkthrough
Visit members.trytrimi.com and sign in with your email and password. If you've forgotten your credentials, use the "Forgot Password" link to reset them.
From the dashboard, click the "My Medications" tab. You'll see your current prescription — whether that's semaglutide or tirzepatide — along with your current dose, last refill date, and next scheduled shipment.
If your subscription is active, choose "Request Early Refill" to move up your next delivery. If you previously paused, select "Resume Shipments" to reactivate your schedule.
Verify that your shipping address and payment method are current. If anything has changed, update it before confirming the refill request.
Once submitted, your request enters processing. You'll receive an email confirmation followed by tracking information once the shipment is dispatched. Most early refill requests ship within 1-2 business days.
If you run into any issues during the refill process — or if you need to make changes after submitting a request — simply message your care team through the portal. They can adjust orders that haven't shipped yet, change delivery addresses, or answer questions about your upcoming refill.
Requesting Dose Changes
Your dose may need adjustment as you progress through treatment. Trimi makes this process seamless:
How to Request a Dose Change
- 1Log into your patient portal
Go to members.trytrimi.com
- 2Click "Message Care Team"
Access 24/7 messaging with your providers
- 3Describe your situation
Include: current dose, how long you've been on it, side effects, weight loss progress, and what change you'd like
- 4Receive physician review
Most requests reviewed within 24 hours; often same-day during business hours
Common Reasons to Increase Dose
- Weight loss has plateaued for 2+ weeks
- Minimal side effects at current dose
- Appetite suppression has diminished
- Been on current dose 4+ weeks
Common Reasons to Decrease/Maintain Dose
- Significant ongoing side effects
- Rapid weight loss (2+ lbs/week sustained)
- Approaching goal weight
- Difficulty eating adequate nutrition
How Dose Adjustments Work
Dose titration is a normal and expected part of GLP-1 treatment. Both semaglutide and tirzepatide are designed to be started at a low dose and gradually increased over time. This approach minimizes side effects while helping your body adjust to the medication. Understanding when and why dose changes happen can help you feel more confident navigating the process.
When Are Doses Typically Adjusted?
Most dose increases follow a structured schedule. For semaglutide, the standard protocol starts at 0.25 mg for the first four weeks, then moves to 0.5 mg, and continues to increase at monthly intervals up to the target maintenance dose. Tirzepatide follows a similar pattern, starting at 2.5 mg and increasing every four weeks. However, your board-certified provider may adjust this timeline based on your individual response to the medication.
Your provider will consider several factors when evaluating a dose change request: how long you've been on your current dose, the rate and consistency of your weight loss, the severity and type of any side effects you're experiencing, and your overall health goals. For a deeper look at the considerations involved, our guides on finding your optimal tirzepatide dose and semaglutide dose adjustments cover the clinical reasoning in detail.
What the Dose Change Process Looks Like in the Portal
When you send a dose change request through the patient portal, your message goes directly to your prescribing physician for review. Unlike traditional healthcare settings where you'd need to schedule a separate appointment and wait days or weeks, Trimi's asynchronous messaging model means your provider can review your request and respond the same day in most cases. Once a dose change is approved, it's applied to your next shipment automatically — there's no need to call a pharmacy, pick up a new prescription, or coordinate between multiple offices. Your updated medication arrives at your door on your normal refill schedule with the new dosage already reflected.
If your provider needs additional information before approving a change — for instance, details about specific side effects or your recent weight trend — they'll follow up through the portal messaging system. In some cases, they may recommend a telehealth video consultation to discuss the adjustment in more detail before making a decision.

Telehealth Follow-Up Appointments
Telehealth follow-ups are a core part of the Trimi experience, and they're included in your subscription at no extra cost. These virtual check-ins give you and your provider dedicated time to review your progress, discuss challenges, and make treatment decisions together — all without leaving your home. To learn more about how the overall Trimi process works, including the initial consultation and ongoing care model, visit our how-it-works page.
What to Expect During a Virtual Check-In
A typical telehealth follow-up lasts 10 to 20 minutes and is conducted via secure video through the patient portal. During the appointment, your provider will review your current weight and any trends since your last check-in, ask about side effects and how you've been tolerating your current dose, discuss your energy levels, appetite, and overall well-being, evaluate whether a dose adjustment is appropriate, and answer any questions you have about your treatment plan. You don't need to prepare anything formal — just be ready to share how things have been going since your last appointment. If you've been tracking your weight or symptoms in the portal's health logging feature, your provider will already have access to that data.
How Often Are Follow-Ups Scheduled?
The frequency of telehealth follow-ups depends on where you are in your treatment. During the initial titration phase — typically the first three to four months — check-ins are more frequent, often every four to six weeks, to ensure your dose is being adjusted safely and effectively. Once you've reached a stable maintenance dose, follow-ups may shift to every two to three months, though you can always request an additional check-in at any time through the portal.
It's worth noting that telehealth follow-ups aren't the only way to communicate with your provider. Many routine questions and straightforward dose adjustments are handled entirely through asynchronous messaging, which is often faster and more convenient. The video appointments are most valuable for in-depth discussions, complex medical questions, or situations where your provider wants to visually assess how you're doing.
Scheduling Your Appointment
To schedule a telehealth follow-up, log into the patient portal and select "Schedule Appointment" from your dashboard. You'll see available time slots across multiple days, including some evening and weekend availability. Choose a time that works for you, and you'll receive a confirmation email with a link to join the video call. If you need to reschedule, you can do so through the portal up to 24 hours before your appointment. For last-minute changes, message the care team directly and they'll help find an alternative slot.
Scheduling Telehealth Appointments
While most care happens through secure messaging, video consultations are available when you need face-to-face interaction:
Telehealth Appointments Include:
- Initial consultations (if preferred over async)
- Quarterly progress reviews
- Complex medical discussions
- Medication switching consultations
- Side effect troubleshooting
- Weight maintenance planning
Cost: Telehealth appointments are included in your subscription at no additional charge.
